We restored this truck (way back when) in 2018, when Bandy Co was just beginning to play with the idea of doing full-scale restoration work for the international retail (non-custom) market. The donor vehicle was a complete mess—we got a really good deal on it because it was really beat up & missing lots of (important!) pieces. We worked on it in the shop between other builds over the course of almost a year. The end result isn’t great by our standards today, but given the vehicle that we started with, it’s actually something we should be prouder of.
IThe paint & upholstery—like so much of this vehicle, actually—was from other projects we had going on at the time. They were second-hand, but they were functional and in good condition, all things considered. Lucio (our builder) was big on repurposing materials, as was I, and for a project like this (which didn’t have a buyer), it made a lot of sense to go that route. I don’t regret it… although I wish it weren’t green (laughs).
